Heralding a new age? Really?

It's been a long time since I've posted something here... and I've wondered off and on for a while if I should resuscitate this back to life.
With this news from Advertising Age, I think it might be worth it.

Esquire's 75th anniversary cover will feature the first animated, battery-powered text on its front and inside front cover. Granted, I think my Speak&Spell back in 1980 had about 100x the technology, but I'm sure it's not easy (nor inexpensive) to produce and ship these puppies to the 100,000 lucky recipients.
Will it herald in a new age of print technology? Maybe. Should I expect my cereal box covers to animate like they do on the Minority Report? Probably not anytime soon.
But there it is.
